THE TRAINING PROGRAMME at 2Beez Derby is an all-inclusive experience, specialising in Stage vs Film Acting & Drama and Musical Theatre, including singing and dance, and helping students develop into versatile triple-threat performers. Our unique Creating Original Scripts Module provides opportunities for original work to be entered into competitions, screened in cinemas, staged, and toured nationally. We also offer a Showreels and Self-Tapes Module, providing essential preparation for professional castings.

2Beez Modules Breakdown
- Our Little Beez group (ages 3–5) enjoys one hour and 30 minutes of performing arts training each week in Acting & Drama and Musical Theatre.
- Our Junior and Senior groups (ages 6–19) receive three hours of training each week across all Academy modules, including Stage vs Film Acting & Drama, Musical Theatre, and Creating Original Work.

Your child will develop all Foundation conventions at an Intermediate level, plus Frantic Assembly physical theatre, Stanislavski, Greek chorus, melodrama, and documentary theatre.

Your child will develop all Intermediate conventions at an Advanced level, plus monologues for stage and film, self-tapes, and audition techniques. They explore commercial acting, Stanislavski's method, emotional connection, and authentic performance for stage and screen. Meisner technique develops responsive acting and truthful interaction with others as part of a creative cast. Students also explore Antonin Artaud and Theatre of the Absurd through our promenade performance during the October term, alongside Brecht, Steven Berkoff's physical theatre, and Augusto Boal.
MUSICAL THEATRE MODULE
2Beez’s Musical Theatre module covers acting, singing, and dance. Students learn how all three disciplines work together to build the skills of a well-rounded musical theatre performer. This triple-threat training is valued by talent agents and casting directors.

Lots of fun, high energy, and excitement! In this age group, we focus on the magical world of Disney musicals such as The Lion King, Zombies, Descendants, Encanto, and Beauty and the Beast. Your child will expand their horizons, learn how to work as part of an ensemble within a musical theatre piece, and build confidence as they combine their acting, singing, and dance skills.

An around-the-world musical extravaganza! Students explore musicals from different eras and have the opportunity to stage musical numbers for showcases. Musicals explored in this age group include Roald Dahl’s Matilda, Annie, Oliver!, Billy Elliot, The Sound of Music, School of Rock, and High School Musical. Your child will learn original West End and Broadway choreography, preparing them for the big stage. Our juniors have the opportunity to lead their own musical section in our annual Spotlight Showcase and take part in the Academy-selected main musical, performed on a major scale for live public audiences.

Our seniors fully explore the world of musicals and take on multiple roles across different productions to expand their performance skills. Your child will learn how to convey story and emotion through song, dialogue, and choreographed movement. Musicals explored in this age group include Hamilton, Chicago, Hairspray, Oliver!, Les Misérables, and Wicked. Our young performers work on character-driven movement and vocal versatility. Key techniques include strong diction, breath control, and using mix voice to bridge chest and head voice, alongside physical storytelling through jazz and contemporary dance.
CREATING ORIGINAL SCRIPTS MODULE
Unique to 2Beez Academy, students learn how to become writers, directors, and producers for stage and film. Students have the opportunity to create their own original work, inspired by our award-winning in-house writers, directors, and producers. Students receive full access and performance rights for 2Beez award-winning plays, such as School of Good Manners, The Wolf Pack, and Stinging Sisters. We are distinctive in creating and performing our own original plays, providing a platform for students to take on leadership roles beyond performance. Learning to direct can also strengthen acting skills. This unit is a defining part of our students' personal development, building confidence and self-esteem while helping them understand what it takes to organise and lead a creative team.

In this module, your child’s creative ideas become a reality, progressing from concept and text to stage or screen. Our junior writers and directors take creative control from a young age, building confidence, self-esteem, and leadership skills as they take turns directing their own stories and working with friends to stage original plays and films for an audience.

Your child will step into the role of writer and director, creating original scripts for stage or film. They learn how to develop a play or film storyboard, write a plot synopsis and character breakdowns, and produce a script with strong storylines and characters before moving into production. Our young directors immerse themselves in a world of intrigue and imagination, devising original stories to be staged, showcased, or screened as film projects. This is a defining module for our performers as they become artists in their own right, build resilience, understand what writers and directors look for, and develop into more rounded performers who can create plays and musicals as well as star in them. Our senior directors take responsibility for choosing actors, co-directors, stage managers, technical crew for lighting and sound, costume and props teams, and front-of-house roles. It is a thrilling experience that gives young people creative responsibility while they remain fully supported by our professional team. In this module, our seniors gain practical industry experience and knowledge, opening exciting new avenues to explore as possible future career paths.

Derby Grammar School students seeking representation should apply through the school to arrange an audition and be considered for representation. Students may also be identified during Talent Agency visits, school productions, or organised audition dates.
