Role Details.

We are seeking an experienced Film and TV Teacher to join 2Beez Performing Arts Academy at Derby Grammar School in Littleover, Derby.

This Sunday role involves teaching students aged 6–19 the practical and creative skills needed to develop, shoot, direct, and produce screen-based performance projects.

We are looking for someone with real film, television, or production experience who can lead students through exciting, competition-level film projects while building their confidence, technical ability, and creative storytelling skills.

The role is based at Derby Grammar School, Rykneld Road, Littleover, Derby, DE23 4BX, working with students aged 6–19 on Sundays from 2–5 pm.

We are looking for a Film and TV Teacher with strong practical knowledge of film production, including camera operation, shot composition, framing, camera angles, continuity, sound recording, boom mic technique, basic lighting, directing actors for screen, and working as part of a production team.

You should be confident teaching students how to move from idea to finished project, including story development, scripting, storyboarding, shot lists, rehearsal, filming, editing awareness, and preparing work for screening or competition entry.

The successful candidate will be able to lead structured, high-quality film projects, manage deadlines, respond to project demands, and help students produce creative work to a competition-ready standard.

We are looking for someone who thrives on creative challenge, enjoys developing young performers and filmmakers, and can bring energy, organisation, and industry insight into each weekly session.

A showreel of films produced, directed, written, edited, or storyboarded would be highly desirable.

Candidate requirements

  • Minimum 6 months teaching experience. (apprentice options offered by the academy for a suitable candidate)
  • A degree in Film or equivalent, or close to completion
  • DBS (Fully Enhanced) The academy can support processing an application if necessary. (DBS Check fees apply, payable to the external checker)

Preferred

  • A year or longer teaching experience
  • Fully Qualified Teacher Status (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent)
  • Showreel or equivalent of previous film production work
  • Driving license
